Accessibility Statement for Solihull College and University Centre / Stratford Upon Avon College Staff and Student Hubs

Induction

This accessibility statement applies to the College’s Staff and Student Hubs which can be found at https://hub.solihull.ac.uk.

This Staff and Student Hubs are created and operated by Solihull College and University Centre. They are accessed via Microsoft Office 365 authentication and therefore accessible only to current staff and students of the College. The sites act as a central point for a range of different information and services offered to staff and students and also act as the browser home page when logging in to the College’s Virtual Desktop (Hive) both on and off campus. Links are provided through a navigation bar to internal resources such as forms, policies and procedures and also to other systems (for example Microsoft Office 365). The Hubs are also used to communicate key messages to staff and students, to and to publish internal news stories.

  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

Solihull College and University Centre is committed to making the Staff and Student Hubs accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access key College services, and some of our forms are published as Word and PDF documents. By December 2020 we plan to address any remaining accessibility issues relating to these documents.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Pre-recorded video content

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix pre-recorded video content that was published before 23 September 2020.

We will ensure that pre-recorded video content published on the Staff and Student Hubs after 23 September 2020 includes closed captions. Where possible, alternative accessible sources of the same information will be provided or signposted in line with WCAG 2.1AA.

We are committed to improving the accessibility of the Staff and Student Hubs to ensure that as many people as possible are able to make use of them. Our priorities for improving and ensuring accessibility are:

  1. Improving the accessibility of forms, policies and procedures that are provided in PDF or Office document formats
